Xiling Snow Mountain Chengdu

a mountain with snow

Tickets and booking

Xiling Snow Mountain sells separate tickets for its two sides. The front mountain — the Dafeishui scenic area — is 30 RMB for adults, 15 RMB at the concession rate. The back mountain is ticketed through the ski resort: 180 RMB buys back-mountain entry plus the Yuanyang Pool cableway uphill; the Yuanyang Pool downhill ride alone is 60 RMB; and the Riyueping sightseeing cableway is 120 RMB return. A dedicated back-mountain hiking ticket costs 88 RMB for those skipping the first lift. All prices are listed as valid every day of the year, alongside opening hours of 08:30-17:30.

Concession rules are narrow and calendar-dependent. Half-price entry plus a Yuanyang Pool cableway return goes to students at undergraduate level or below, and to seniors aged 60 up to 65 on national statutory holidays. Free entry, plus a Yuanyang Pool cableway return and the sightseeing bus, goes to seniors aged 60+ on non-holiday days, seniors 65+ during statutory holidays, disabled visitors and journalists. Confirm current prices and eligibility on 028-88309080 before paying.

Entrance and routes

The mountain divides into two separately ticketed entrances. The front mountain is the Dafeishui scenic area, entered on its own 30 RMB ticket. The back mountain is the ski-resort side, where the pack distinguishes two lifts: the Yuanyang Pool cableway, labelled the transport cableway, and the Riyueping cableway, labelled the sightseeing cableway. Riders bundle the first lift with entry in the 180 RMB ticket; walkers enter on the 88 RMB hiking ticket instead.

Timing shapes the route choice. Both cableways run 9:00-17:00, but the sightseeing cableway stops uphill boarding at 16:00, so a back-mountain day needs an early start to clear Yuanyang Pool with hours to spare. The site address is No. 90, Group 2, Yunhua Village, Xiling Town, Dayi County, Chengdu, Sichuan.

Photo spots

The pack names three fixed waypoints rather than ranked viewpoints. Dafeishui (‘Great Flying Water’) gives the front-mountain scenic area its name. Yuanyang Pool (‘Mandarin Duck Pool’) is the transport-cableway hub on the back mountain. Riyueping (‘Sun-Moon Flat’) tops the sightseeing cableway — the one lift the pack explicitly labels for viewing, at 120 RMB return.

The scheduling constraint matters more than any spot list: uphill boarding on the Riyueping line ends at 16:00 and the grounds close at 17:30, so top-station photography has to fit into the afternoon window before that cut-off, reached via the Yuanyang Pool lift.

Timing and crowds

Hours are 08:30-17:30, Monday to Sunday, all year, and the suggested visit length is one full day. Cableways run 9:00-17:00, with the sightseeing (Riyueping) line cutting off uphill boarding at 16:00 — the effective deadline for the top of the back mountain.

The pack carries no crowd data, but its calendar signals are explicit: concession and free-entry tiers switch between national statutory holidays and ordinary days, and Chadianzi station adds extra buses in peak season. The practical default is a morning start on the 9:00 or 9:30 Chadianzi bus, treating the visit as one long day rather than a half-day.

Walking and effort

Hiking is a priced, first-class option here: the back mountain sells a dedicated hiking ticket at 88 RMB, against 180 RMB for entry bundled with the Yuanyang Pool cableway uphill. The front mountain (Dafeishui, 30 RMB) is a separate walking area with its own entry.

The pack publishes no trail lengths, elevation figures or difficulty grades, so effort cannot be quantified from the data — plan by clock time instead: one suggested day, cableways 9:00-17:00, sightseeing uphill boarding ending 16:00. Anyone hiking up and riding the Yuanyang Pool lift down adds the 60 RMB downhill fare to the 88 RMB ticket.

Getting there

Two bus routes from Chengdu are listed. From Chadianzi Bus Station, direct buses to Xiling Snow Mountain depart at 9:00 and 9:30; in peak season the station adds departures, and the pack directs riders to confirm exact times with the station. From Xin’nanmen, buses run to Xiling Town roughly twice a day.

The scenic area sits at No. 90, Group 2, Yunhua Village, Xiling Town, Dayi County, Chengdu, Sichuan, and its phone line is 028-88309080. The pack lists no bus fares or journey times, so budget for the ride separately and verify schedules before setting out.

Cost breakdown

Per-person prices, listed as valid year-round:

  • Front mountain (Dafeishui scenic area): 30 RMB adult, 15 RMB concession.
