Duanqiao Canxue Hangzhou

Tickets and booking

Nothing to book: the data pack lists admission as free, and no reservation or timed-entry requirement appears anywhere in the pack. The site is open around the clock, every day of the year (January 1 through December 31, Monday to Sunday), so there is no entry window to compete for. The practical default is simply to walk in. The pack’s own caveat applies to the hours — they are for reference only and actual opening can vary — so if you need to confirm conditions on a specific day, the scenic area’s phone line is 0571-87977767.

Entrance and routes

Duanqiao Canxue sits inside the Hangzhou West Lake Scenic Area at No. 2 Longjing Road, Xihu District — the northeast corner of the lake. There is no gate or ticket checkpoint: the bridge is an open lakeside structure reached on foot from several bus stops. From the Geling stop (buses 118, 277, or 27) it is walkable; bus 27 also serves a stop that carries the site’s own name, Geling Duanqiao Canxue; and the Bai Causeway stop — served by route WE1314, Digital Tourism Line 5, and the Bai Causeway–Leifeng Pagoda shuttle — is likewise within walking distance. Since the area never closes, any of these approaches works at any hour.

Photo spots

The subject is the bridge itself, and the name tells you the shot the scene is named for: ‘Duanqiao Canxue’ translates as ‘Broken Bridge with Lingering Snow,’ so the namesake look is the bridge under lingering snow. The pack carries no vantage-point or lighting data, so treat this as an open, always-accessible location rather than a scripted photo stop — it is free, open 24 hours, and walkable from the Bai Causeway stop, which makes the causeway-and-bridge stretch a natural single walk with the camera out. Beyond the snow reference in the name, timing and framing are yours to experiment with.

Timing and crowds

Open all day, every day, and free to enter, so scheduling is entirely flexible. The pack’s suggested duration is under one hour, and it contains no crowd data, peak-time patterns, or seasonal closures — the only caveat is that the posted hours are ‘for reference only.’ The practical default: slot Duanqiao Canxue as a short stop of less than an hour whenever you are passing the northeast corner of the lake, and call 0571-87977767 beforehand if you want to verify conditions.

Walking and effort

None to speak of, as far as the data goes. The pack lists no trails, elevation figures, or walking distances — access is simply a walk from one of the nearby bus stops (Geling, Geling Duanqiao Canxue, or Bai Causeway), and the suggested visit length is under an hour. Plan for a short lakeside walk, not a hike; anyone comfortable walking from a bus stop can reach the bridge.

Getting there

Bus is the documented way in, with three patterns from the pack:

  • Buses 118, 277, or 27 to the Geling stop, then walk.
  • Bus 27 to the Geling Duanqiao Canxue stop, then walk.
  • Route WE1314, Digital Tourism Line 5, or the Bai Causeway–Leifeng Pagoda shuttle to the Bai Causeway stop, then walk.

All three are listed as walking distance to the site. Fares, frequencies, and first/last buses are not in the pack, so check current schedules locally.

Cost breakdown

Short and cheap: admission is free. That is the only cost figure the pack contains — no bus fares, parking fees, or guide prices are listed. In practice, expect zero entry cost at the bridge itself plus whatever the bus ride in costs, which you would confirm locally. Note that the free-entry fact applies to Duanqiao Canxue specifically, not automatically to other attractions around West Lake.
