Shanzidou (Fan Peak) Lijiang

Tickets and booking

Shanzidou has no standalone ticket — access runs through the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain scenic area ticket: 130 yuan per person, covering Ganhaizi and Blue Moon Valley. The ticket is valid for one day and one entry only, so plan the whole visit as a single pass. It does not include the Lijiang Old Town maintenance fee (80 yuan, paid separately), the Impression Lijiang show, cableway rides, or the park’s eco-bus shuttles — each is a separate purchase. Discounts are narrow: student and military officer IDs get half price; other certificates are not accepted.

Ticket sales stop at 16:00 (park open 07:00-18:00 daily) and the cableways also stop at 16:00, so buying and riding early is the reliable move. Cableway fares are not listed here; confirm current prices by phone on 0888-5161501.

Entrance and routes

The practical entry point is the Ganhaizi visitor centre — the hub both charters and the direct bus aim for. From there the park splits into two layers. Ground level: Ganhaizi and Blue Moon Valley, both included in the 130-yuan ticket. Up the mountain: three cableways — the Large Cableway, the Yak Meadow Cableway and the Spruce Meadow Cableway — all ticketed separately and all running 07:30-16:00.

Because the entrance ticket is single-entry, settle on your sequence before passing the gate: once you exit, the ticket is used up. Inside the park, eco-bus shuttles (extra fee) handle the hops between sights.

Photo spots

Shanzidou is the subject of every frame here; the choice is the foreground. Blue Moon Valley, included on the entrance ticket, is the low valley-floor vantage with the massif directly above. Ganhaizi, the visitor-centre hub where buses and charters drop you, is the wide-angle first look at the range. For height in the picture, the Large Cableway, Yak Meadow Cableway and Spruce Meadow Cableway each put you on the mountain’s slopes.

Work early: cableways run 07:30-16:00 and the ticket window closes at 16:00, so late-afternoon light is not an option.

Timing and crowds

Posted hours: park 07:00-18:00 daily, ticket sales stop at 16:00, cableways 07:30-16:00 — the effective visiting day runs morning to mid-afternoon. The direct bus leaves Lijiang at 9:00 and the drive is about 40 minutes, so bus arrivals land mid-morning; a charter can beat that with an earlier start. The suggested duration at the peak is 1-3 hours.

Build slack into peak-season plans: the private No. 7 minivans raise fares when demand is high and depart only when full, and the return bus to Lijiang leaves at 17:00. The entrance ticket is single-day, so don’t plan to split the visit across two days.

Walking and effort

This is a sightseeing outing, not a trek. No trails, distances or difficulty grades are listed for Shanzidou; the only ascent routes named are the three cableways, which do the climbing between 07:30 and 16:00. The walking you do is on the included ground — Ganhaizi and Blue Moon Valley — plus queues and eco-bus connections. The official 1-3 hour window fits an unhurried cableway ride plus the valley sights.

It is still a snow-mountain environment: bring warm layers, and if altitude affects you, check conditions ahead on 0888-5161501 — no elevation figures are given here.

Getting there

Three ways in from Lijiang. Charter: the straightforward default — roughly 40 minutes to the Ganhaizi visitor centre at 200-300 yuan for the car. Direct tourist bus: 40 yuan per person, departing 9:00 daily and returning at 17:00; boarding points are the Yuhe parking lot, the South Gate parking lot and the Lijun Hotel around the old town, plus the Shuhe gate, with tickets sold at the Yuhe Corridor (Zone C, Nos. 2-3), the passenger transport centre and the Gao Kuai express bus station.

The ‘No. 7 bus’ often cited online is no longer the official city route — it has been rerouted. What actually runs from Red Sun Square by the old town’s north gate is a privately operated minivan line: 20 yuan per person, departing when full, last return around 17:30, with fare hikes in peak season.

Cost breakdown

Entry: 130 yuan per person for the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain scenic area ticket (includes Ganhaizi and Blue Moon Valley; single day, single entry), plus the 80 yuan Lijiang Old Town maintenance fee, which the entrance ticket does not cover.

Extra, priced separately: cableway rides (Large, Yak Meadow, Spruce Meadow — fares not listed here; confirm on 0888-5161501), eco-bus shuttles, and the Impression Lijiang show. Transport from Lijiang: charter 200-300 yuan per car, direct bus 40 yuan per person, private No. 7 minivan 20 yuan per person (higher in peak season). Half price on the entrance ticket with a student or military officer ID; no other concessions.
