Tickets and booking
Nanhu Autumn Moon Garden has no ticket of its own: admission is free and included in the Zhouzhuang Ancient Town scenic-area ticket. The pack does not list the town ticket price or any reservation requirement, so the reliable move is to budget for the town admission and confirm current terms by phone at 0512-57211699 or 0512-57218063. Posted hours are 07:30-21:00, every day of the year, and no separate booking step for the garden appears in the pack.
Entrance and routes
Zhouzhuang sits about 38 km southeast of central Suzhou. The standard approach is to take a train or coach to Shanghai, Suzhou, Kunshan, or Nanjing first, then transfer to a tourist shuttle or scheduled bus. By coach: Suzhou North Bus Station dispatches a tourist shuttle to Zhouzhuang every 20 minutes; Kunshan Bus Station runs both tourist shuttles and public buses direct to town; and Jiaxing North Bus Station in Zhejiang has scheduled buses to Zhouzhuang.
Driving routes documented in the pack: from Shanghai, take the Yan’an Elevated Road to the G50, exit at Jinze, then continue via Shangta to Zhouzhuang Ancient Town; from Nanjing, follow the Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway (G2) to the Kunshan exit, then the Kun-Zhou Highway via Jinxi to Zhouzhuang; from Suzhou, take the S343 Su-Hong Airport Road to the Kun-Zhou Highway and on via Jinxi; from Zhejiang (Huzhou), follow the Hu-Su-Zhe Expressway (G318) to the Jinze exit, then Shangta to the town.
For the final approach, bus 261 runs from Zhouzhuang Bus Station to the Zhouzhuang New Paifang stop, leaving a 50-metre walk to the ancient town scenic area. The garden itself is at No. 16 Nanshi Street, on the south side of the ancient town.
Photo spots
The pack names no specific viewpoints inside the garden, so build your shot list from what is documented. The name is the cue: Nanhu means South Lake, and ‘Autumn Moon’ is the scene the garden is named for — moonlight over water. The garden stands at No. 16 Nanshi Street on the south side of Zhouzhuang Ancient Town.
Hours run 07:30-21:00 daily, which is the practical hook for photographers: a visit near the 07:30 opening catches early light, and the 21:00 closing leaves room for an after-dark visit when a moon-over-water frame is actually the subject. Since a full visit runs under an hour, returning at a second time of day costs little.
Timing and crowds
Posted hours are 07:30-21:00, Monday to Sunday, year-round, and the suggested visit length is under an hour — a slot-in stop within a Zhouzhuang day rather than a destination needing its own time block. The pack carries no crowd, queue, or busy-season data. The practical default: use the edges of the long opening window, arriving near 07:30 or coming in the evening, rather than assuming any particular hour is quiet.
Walking and effort
Not a hiking destination. The pack lists no trails, elevation figures, or internal distances for the garden, and the suggested duration of under an hour points to a compact, easy stroll. The only documented walking figure is the 10-minute walk from Zhouzhuang Bus Station to the ancient town entrance. Ordinary comfortable shoes are enough.
Getting there
From Zhouzhuang Bus Station, bus 261 runs to the Zhouzhuang New Paifang stop; the ancient town scenic area is then a 50-metre walk. Taxis cover the same trip at 10 yuan per vehicle for a Santana or 5 yuan for a Xiali or minivan. A pedicab (human-powered rickshaw) costs 3 yuan per ride, but the walk from the station takes only 10 minutes, so per the pack, walking is the most cost-effective choice. One explicit warning from the pack: do not believe rickshaw drivers who claim they can get you into the scenic area for free.
