Guilin 7 Day Itinerary

Why this route

This seven-day route works as a single overland arc that opens in city comfort and puts its biggest scenery in the middle. Day 1 anchors the trip in Guilin itself with Dongxi Lane and the Guilin Two Rivers and Four Lakes; Days 2 and 3 push outward into pure landscape, from the Yongfu tiankeng sinkhole and Jinzhongshan Scenic Area to the terraced highlands of Longji; Days 4 and 5 shift the theme from scenery to settlement, pairing the Chengyang Wind and Rain Bridge, the Chengyang Eight Villages and the Sanjiang Drum Tower with the Yuanbao Mountain Longnv Valley Scenic Area and the Yubu Folk Culture Resort; Days 6 and 7 bring the pace back down with the parkland of Longtan Park and Liyu Peak Scenic Area before a mountain finale at the Dayao Mountain Panwangjie Scenic Area and Shengtang Mountain.

The day split is what keeps that arc walkable. Every day carries only two or three stops and between five and seven hours of sightseeing, so no single day is overloaded, and the heaviest day — the seven-hour pairing of the Yongfu tiankeng and Jinzhongshan Scenic Area — falls early, on Day 2, while legs are fresh. The sequencing also gives the week a deliberate shape: one easy city day to arrive, two days of major landscape, two days of villages and folk architecture, then two days of parks and peaks to wind down.

Day by day

Day 1 stays in Guilin and keeps things light: two hours through Dongxi Lane, then three hours around the Guilin Two Rivers and Four Lakes. Five hours in total makes this the softest opening of the week.

Day 2 is the longest day at seven hours. Three hours go to the Yongfu tiankeng, a giant sinkhole, followed by four hours at Jinzhongshan Scenic Area — the single longest stop on the route.

Day 3 is terrace day: two hours at the Longji Rice Terraces, two hours in Longji Dazhai, and two hours among the Jinkeng Rice Terraces, for six hours across three stops on the terraced slopes.

Day 4 slows to a five-hour culture day: one hour at the Chengyang Wind and Rain Bridge, a three-hour walk through the Chengyang Eight Villages, and one hour at the Sanjiang Drum Tower.

Day 5 pairs two three-hour sites: the Yuanbao Mountain Longnv Valley Scenic Area and the Yubu Folk Culture Resort.

Day 6 is a park day: three hours at Longtan Park, then three hours at Liyu Peak Scenic Area in Liuzhou.

Day 7 closes the route in the mountains: three hours at the Dayao Mountain Panwangjie Scenic Area, then three hours at Shengtang Mountain — a six-hour finale that ends the week on high ground.

Trade-offs

The schedule flexes most on Day 4, where the Chengyang Wind and Rain Bridge and the Sanjiang Drum Tower are each one-hour stops bracketing a three-hour village walk, so a late start or a long lunch costs almost nothing. The pressure point is Day 2, whose seven hours can be trimmed by shortening the four-hour Jinzhongshan Scenic Area visit and letting the Yongfu tiankeng stand as the day’s anchor.

Travellers who find seven straight sightseeing days heavy should simplify the back half of the route: Days 5, 6 and 7 each pair two three-hour sites, and cutting one — the Yubu Folk Culture Resort on Day 5 or Shengtang Mountain on Day 7 — turns those days into half-day outings without breaking the arc. Slower walkers can apply the same logic on Day 3 and skip the Jinkeng Rice Terraces, since the Longji Rice Terraces and Longji Dazhai already deliver four hours of terraced scenery.
