Why this route
This two-day Chengdu route works as a single old-meets-new arc. Day 1 collects the heritage-and-retail core: an unhurried tea stop at Guanyin Pavilion Old Teahouse, the lane-side character of Paotongshu Street, a steak hotpot meal at Aiqi Steak Hotpot (Ginkgo Branch), and paired shopping stops at Chunxi Road and Taikoo Li Chengdu. Day 2 then runs from the Tianfu Panda Tower down to Kuan Alley and Zhai Alley and out to Jiuyan Bridge, with a roast duck meal, a lamb-skewer dinner and a closing 1-2 hours at Lan Kwai Fong Chengdu woven between.
The split keeps the pace honest. Every timed stop on the route runs 1-2 hours, so Day 1’s five stops and Day 2’s six never let a single site dominate, and the three restaurant stops land at natural breakpoints: hotpot mid-route on Day 1, roast duck after the tower and lamb before the final stop on Day 2. Day 1 leans toward tea, lanes and shopping, while Day 2 saves the bridge dinner and Lan Kwai Fong Chengdu for the end, giving the itinerary a livelier close than its retail finish on Day 1.
Day by day
Day 1 begins at Guanyin Pavilion Old Teahouse, an open-ended stop that sets a slow tone before Paotongshu Street takes its 1-2 hours. A steak hotpot meal at Aiqi Steak Hotpot (Ginkgo Branch) breaks the day mid-route. The remainder belongs to shopping: Chunxi Road for 1-2 hours, then Taikoo Li Chengdu for a further 1-2 hours to close out the day.
Day 2 starts at Tianfu Panda Tower for 1-2 hours, then steps down to street level for a roast duck meal at Zhang Roast Duck (Qingshiqiao Main Store). Kuan Alley and Zhai Alley follows with 1-2 hours of lane wandering, and Jiuyan Bridge takes another 1-2 hours. Dinner lands at Xunxiaohuan Roasted Lamb Skewers (Jiuyan Bridge Branch), which pairs roasted lamb skewers with mutton hotpot and lamb soup, before a final 1-2 hours at Lan Kwai Fong Chengdu wraps the route.
Trade-offs
Every timed stop runs 1-2 hours, so the schedule flexes at each junction rather than at one fixed point. The easiest cut on Day 1 is one of the two shopping stops: dropping either Chunxi Road or Taikoo Li Chengdu frees 1-2 hours that travellers can pour back into the teahouse or Paotongshu Street, and the day still delivers its old-and-new contrast with a single retail stop.
Day 2 is the denser day at six stops, and it simplifies at both ends. Travellers who turn in early can finish after dinner at the Xunxiaohuan Jiuyan Bridge branch and skip Lan Kwai Fong Chengdu, while late starters can drop Tianfu Panda Tower and begin with the roast duck meal. In both cases, Kuan Alley and Zhai Alley plus the Jiuyan Bridge stretch remains the day’s core and should be the last thing cut.
