Why this route
The five days cohere around Chengdu’s two speeds, and every day braids them together. One thread is the heavyweight sightseeing: the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, Dujiangyan Scenic Area, Mount Qingcheng, the Chengdu Dufu Thatched Cottage Msm., Chengdu Museum and the JINSHA SITE MUSEUM. The other is the city’s leisure ritual — tea at the Heming Teahouse, strolls through Kuan Alley and Zhai Alley and along Kuixinglou Street, meals at Maojiao Huola, Leshan Xianzhiwei and the Kuan Alley skewer house, the Jinjiang Theatre, and the bookstores and shopping at Chengdu Taikoo Li, Chunxi Road and the IFS International Finance Center. Because each day mixes the two, no day is only museums or only malls, and the named eateries are spread across Days 1, 4 and 5 rather than bunched.
The day split is engineered around the four stops that carry a fixed three-hour duration. Day 1 is a soft landing: five timed stops, none longer than the 1-3 hours given to Chengdu People’s Park, plus untimed pauses at the Heming Teahouse and Maojiao Huola. Day 2 front-loads the panda base’s fixed three hours and fills the remainder with three flexible 1-3 hour stops. Day 3 isolates the route’s only back-to-back pair of three-hour stops — Dujiangyan Scenic Area, then Mount Qingcheng — and cushions them with a light tail at Chengdu Taikoo Li and the Cat’s Sky City concept bookstore. Day 4 runs fully flexible, and Day 5 keeps a single fixed three-hour stop, the JINSHA SITE MUSEUM, before U37 Creative Warehouse and a farewell skewer dinner at the Kuan Alley branch, a callback to the Kuan Alley and Zhai Alley stroll on Day 1.
Day by day
Day 1. Chengdu People’s Park opens the trip (1-3 hours), with an untimed tea break at the Heming Teahouse in the park. The route then walks Kuan Alley and Zhai Alley (1-2 hours), follows the Kuixinglou Street food street (1-2 hours) with a meal at the Maojiao Huola restaurant, and finishes in the retail core at Chunxi Road (1-2 hours) and the IFS International Finance Center (1-2 hours).
Day 2. The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding takes a fixed three hours — the first of the route’s four fixed three-hour stops. The rest of the day stays flexible and runs in sequence through the Temple of Marquis (1-3 hours), Jinli (1-3 hours) and the Jinjiang Theatre (1-3 hours).
Day 3. The demanding day. Dujiangyan Scenic Area comes first (3 hours), then Mount Qingcheng (3 hours) — the route’s only back-to-back pair of three-hour stops, in that order. The tail is deliberately light: Chengdu Taikoo Li (1-3 hours) and the Cat’s Sky City concept bookstore (1-2 hours).
Day 4. The Chengdu Dufu Thatched Cottage Msm. (1-3 hours) leads, followed by a bobo chicken meal at Leshan Xianzhiwei on Caotang North Road and then Chengdu Museum (1-3 hours). The Fangsuo bookstore at Chengdu Ocean Taikoo Li (1-2 hours) closes the day, returning to the Taikoo Li area from Day 3.
Day 5. The JINSHA SITE MUSEUM takes a fixed three hours — the last of the route’s four fixed three-hour stops — then U37 Creative Warehouse (1-3 hours). The route ends with skewers at the Kuan Alley branch of the Steel Pipe Factory Block 5 skewer house, back in the alley quarter walked on Day 1.
Trade-offs
Day 3 is the pinch point: it carries the route’s only back-to-back pair of three-hour stops — Dujiangyan Scenic Area, then Mount Qingcheng — and still stacks two more stops after them. The cleanest fix is to cut the Day 3 tail at Chengdu Taikoo Li and the Cat’s Sky City concept bookstore, since Day 4 already ends at the Fangsuo bookstore at Chengdu Ocean Taikoo Li and covers that ground anyway. Travellers who want the day even lighter can drop Mount Qingcheng’s three hours entirely and let Dujiangyan Scenic Area stand as the day’s single anchor.
Everywhere else the schedule flexes on its own, because most stops carry 1-3 hour windows — the Temple of Marquis, Jinli and the Jinjiang Theatre on Day 2, the Chengdu Dufu Thatched Cottage Msm. and Chengdu Museum on Day 4, and U37 Creative Warehouse on Day 5 — so a slow-moving party can run long without unravelling the plan. Travellers on a compressed visit should simplify to the four fixed three-hour anchors (the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, Dujiangyan Scenic Area, Mount Qingcheng and the JINSHA SITE MUSEUM) and treat the flexible stops as optional; anyone indifferent to shopping can also drop the Day 1 pair of Chunxi Road and the IFS International Finance Center, the easiest 1-2 hour cuts on the route.
