Why this route
This route reads as one extended tour of karst landscape, with each stop showing a different face of the same terrain. Day 1 moves from the open water of Wanfeng Lake through the peak forest of the Wanfeng Forest Scenic Area and into the gorge of the Maling River Canyon Scenic Area. Day 2 keeps the stone but adds fields and moving water: the spiral plots of the Luoping Screw Fields, the flower fields of the Luoping Canola Flower Scenic Area, the Jinji Peak Cluster (Temporarily Closed) and the cascades of Jiulong Waterfalls. Days 3 and 4 then trade big landforms for calm water and village life around Puzhehei Lake, Caihuaqing and the Puzhehei Karst National Wetland Park, before the route ends at Bamei Village.
The day split is heavily front-loaded. Day 1 is the longest at eight hours across three stops, and day 2 is the busiest by stop count with four stops in six hours, so the two demanding sightseeing days come first. Day 3 then eases to three one-hour stops, and day 4 closes with a single two-hour stop at Bamei Village, tapering the route from full-day immersion in the scenery to short visits and an unhurried finish.
Day by day
Day 1 is the longest day of the route at eight hours. Start with two hours at Wanfeng Lake, continue with three hours at the Wanfeng Forest Scenic Area, and finish with three hours in the Maling River Canyon Scenic Area.
Day 2 is the busiest by stop count, with four stops over six hours. Spend one hour at the Luoping Screw Fields and one hour at the Luoping Canola Flower Scenic Area, then plan two hours for the Jinji Peak Cluster (Temporarily Closed) — confirm its status before the visit, as it is listed as temporarily closed — and end with two hours at Jiulong Waterfalls.
Day 3 slows to three one-hour stops: an hour at Puzhehei Lake, an hour at Caihuaqing, and an hour at the Puzhehei Karst National Wetland Park.
Day 4 is the lightest day of the route, a single two-hour stop at Bamei Village, which leaves the remainder of the day open.
Trade-offs
The most obvious cut is the Jinji Peak Cluster (Temporarily Closed). With the site listed as temporarily closed, dropping it takes day 2 from six hours to four across three stops, and the freed time flexes easily into a longer stay at Jiulong Waterfalls or a second hour at the Luoping Canola Flower Scenic Area, keeping the day full without the closed stop.
The schedule also flexes at the tail end. Days 3 and 4 together hold only five hours of stops — three one-hour visits around Puzhehei and a single two-hour stop at Bamei Village — so travellers short on time can compress them into one day and finish the route in three, while anyone finding day 1’s eight hours heavy can use the light final days to recover rather than trimming scenery from the start.
